A Ground Breaking Ceremony was held at SomerFields this week to officially mark the commencement of Stage 1 of this project.

Songwoman Maroochy Barambah, of the Turrbal-Gubbi Gubbi people and past Somerville House parent, blessed the land and performed a Welcome to Country at the beginning of the Ceremony.

Principal, Mrs Kim Kiepe acknowledged guests, including Ms Bethwyn Todd who is a major donor to this project, as well as Directors of the Somerville House Foundation which has pledged funding to the staged construction.

The SomerFields project includes the development of four main fields and two practice fields, six multipurpose courts and four tennis courts, car parking and associated infrastructure. Spread over 15.4 hectares of land, just a short distance from the School, SomerFields will provide world-class sporting and recreational facilities that will benefit our Somerville House athletes.
