Experience our engaging learning programs and vibrant School community at our Open Day on Sunday 21 May 2017, from 11.00am to 2.00pm.

Take the time to explore our classrooms, talk to staff, parents and students and to learn more about our exciting academic, pastoral, spiritual and co-curricular programs.

Throughout the day you will have an opportunity to take part in guided campus tours, enjoy music and cultural performances, take part in sporting demonstrations and hear from our Principal, Mrs Florence Kearney.

Our School

Somerville House is recognised as a landmark in girls’ education throughout Australia and overseas. Established in 1899, Somerville House provides a co-educational Pre-Prep program, classes for girls from Prep to Year 12 across JuniorMiddle and Senior sub-schools and boarding from Year 6. 

We offer programs that are challenging academically, varied recreationally, stimulating socially, and rich spiritually. 

Our highly experienced teachers aim to educate students to become confident and independent young women, conscious of their strengths, responsive to the call of God in their lives, and capable and willing to contribute to the greater good of society.

Our Co-Educational Pre-Prep program offers students specialist classes in Music, Visual Arts, Christian Education, Foreign Language and Physical Education, while our Boarding House provides a warm, safe and supportive environment where each student is encourage to balance structure and routine with the freedom to explore and develop individually.

Somerville House is conveniently located on the doorstep of the Brisbane CBD and South Bank’s cultural precinct. We are a short work from the South Bank Train Station, South Bank Parklands, The Goodwill Bridge and the Mater Hill Busway.

Access to the School is via Graham Street or Stephens Road at South Brisbane.

Limited street parking is available on Stephens Road, Graham Street and Dock Street and surrounding streets, please check metered parking requirements and parking restriction signs. Additional parking is available in the nearby Hancock Street Car Park or in the South Bank Parklands Car Park.
