From the Principal
Reflection, Relaxation and Rejuvenation
Friday signals the last day of term and heralds the start of our term break, so I wish all students (and staff) a time to reflect on what worked well in terms of meeting set goals for the first half of the semester. I also wish each member of your family some good relaxation, so that everyone in the Somerville community returns feeling rejuvenated and ready to tackle the Term 2 teaching and learning program. Parents - enjoy time with your daughter(s) and take the opportunity to reflect on report feedback from teachers. An approach of reflecting on successful areas and the factors leading to that success, in conjunction with a review of the areas needing further effort, with a plan of how to do things differently next term, is always a good conversation starter about report cards.
End of Term Farewells
As it is the end of the term, we acknowledge those members of staff who are leaving us and thank them for their service to the school community.
In our Junior School, we thank Ms Colleen Moriarty for her contribution to Learning Development, with the conclusion of her contract. We will be pleased to welcome her back as one of our regular Relief teachers, to cover teachers who are absent with illness.
In our Senior School, we wish a well-deserved long service leave break to Mrs Sylvia Cody (Music) and look forward to welcoming her back in Term 3. Mrs Sarah Zambelli (Maths) will be leaving us temporarily to prepare for the arrival of her second baby. We will welcome Sarah’s return in 2024.
Mrs Deborah Joslin (Music Administration) will be taking a short period of long service leave and will return in Term 3. We wish Mrs Joslin a happy time with her visiting extended family. Ms Rebecca Ayache (Art Assistant) will be on leave in Term 2, returning for the start of Term 3.
May the great joy of Easter and the peace of God fill our homes and the wider community. I wish all members of our school family a peaceful and happy holiday and look forward to welcoming everyone on your return for Term 2 on Monday 17 April, with our boarders returning on Sunday 16 April.
