Somerville House consistently performs among the top schools in Australia. Our school provides each student with opportunities to develop their individual sense of purpose, confidence and a global world view.

The inner-city location of Somerville House means students have the cultural heartland of Queensland on their doorstep, with access to South Bank Parklands, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, the Queensland State Library, Museum and Art Gallery, the Botanical Gardens, and much more.

The School values the diverse and culturally-rich perspectives that International students share with our school community and we welcome these students throughout their schooling with us.

International students must live within the Boarding House or with a parent or guardian.

International students are required to provide a report of their English proficiency levels prior to entry to the School. English proficiency test results provide details regarding the student’s proficiency in English and is one of the measures of the candidate’s suitability.

Applicants are required to meet the IELTS or NLLIA band scale, or the equivalent:

  • Level 4+ up to Year 5
  • Level 5 for Year 6
  • Level 5 for Years 7 to 8
  • Level 6 for Year 9
  • Level 6+ for Year 10
  • Level 7 for Years 11 or 12

Full Fee Paying Students are required by the Federal Government to take out medical cover under the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Scheme.

Application Process

Let's get started...

Step 1

Complete the Application for Registration Form. All applications require a non-refundable fee of $350 per student.

Step 2

A link to our online Application for Enrolment Form will be emailed to you for completion. Additional required documentation may also be requested. This application must include a copy of the English Language Proficiency test results demonstrating that your daughter meets the minimum standard. The completion of the Application for Enrolment Form does not guarantee acceptance of your child’s enrolment.

Step 3

Upon receipt of your completed Application for Enrolment Form, you and your child will be invited to attend an interview, either at the School or via Skype, to discuss your application.

Due to a limited number of placements not all students who are interviewed will be offered places in the School.

Step 4

Upon receipt of an offer of enrolment, you will be required to confirm your acceptance by completing and signing the official Overseas Student Written Agreement and paying a non-refundable acceptance fee of $1,200.   You will also receive an invoice for the first six month’s tuition fees.

Step 5

Upon receipt of the completed documentation and the payment of the fees in advance, the School will issue a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) which will allow you to apply for the student visa.
