Fully qualified staff are available to assist training both in the pool and the gymnasium.

The Centre is located within the Somerville House campus and is enjoyed by students and members of the public. Patrons are asked to abide by some policies of the School whilst on the property.

By entering the Murray Evans Sports and Aquatic Centre, you acknowledge that Swimming and other activities offered or conducted at this Centre are inherently physical, and you risk injury in participating in such activities.

By attending the Murray Evans Sports and Aquatic Centre, including, swimming, coaching, training or multipurpose court and or sport usage you declare that you are medically able to participate in physical activity, and acknowledge that you understand accept the inherent risks of undertaking these physical activities.

You release and indemnify Somerville House to the Full extent permitted by law in respect of any claim, loss liability or expense arising as a result of or in connection with your participation in any Murray Evans Sports and Aquatic Centre activities.

While all efforts are made to ensure your safety, Somerville House takes no responsibility for injury, damage or loss of property.

You agree to the below conditions:

  • No Smoking
  • No alcohol or glass bottles or containers are permitted
  • No illegal or offensive substance or items, weapons, or sharp objects of any kind are permitted in this facility.
  • Offensive or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated and will result in immediate eviction from the Facility.
  • We do not accept liability for any injury or death to any person whilst in this facility.
  • No pets or animals are permitted at this facility
  • Follow all signage directive

Squad Swimming

The Somerville House Aquatic Swim Club and Squads Program (SOMAQ) runs year-round and provides members with the opportunity to compete at a local, state and national level. Our vision is to continue to build a Community of swimmers and families who believe in the value of swimming as a vehicle for personal growth both in and out of the pool, and in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.

Policies and Dress Standards

Patrons are reminded that the complex forms part of Somerville House, a School with students from Pre-Prep to Year 12. Members of the public are asked to also abide by some policies of the School whilst on the property.

Whilst we are open to the public, we also conduct co-operative use between public users and the School staff and students. We make every attempt to inform members of the public to changes in usage and closures. There are occasions, however, when pool space availability may change at short notice.

Private coaching is not allowed without the appropriate forms and bookings – Please contact us for any enquires aquatic@somerville.qld.edu.au.

School Policy that is enforced is as follows:

  • Somerville House Pool is a lap swimming pool facility only and is not a recreational pool, and as such it is not suitable for certain swimming levels, for example babies, toddlers and learn to swim
  • There is to be no sunbathing around the pool at any time
  • Dress standards also apply.

All car spaces under the Sports Complex are allocated to staff of Somerville House. The car park is reserved for staff from 7.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday during school term time. A number of car spaces are also allocated to staff outside of these times. These areas are marked with signage. Please adhere to these guidelines for the use of the car park at the Murray Evans Sports and Aquatic Centre.

It is a condition of entry that all patrons wear appropriate attire within the complex. Swimwear must be of a training type design. Gym clothing with enclosed shoes is required in the Indoor Sports Complex.
