Applications are now open for the inaugural Isabel Bauer OGA Bursary for an Old Girl of Somerville House.

Named in memory of legendary Old Girl, and our longest standing President, the postgraduate bursary will provide $5,000 for a specific and approved purpose, to support an Old Girl in fulfilling her potential. This might include making career changes or advancements, re-entering the workforce, further study, innovation or research.

Isabel Bauer (Bloomer, Class of 1955) is integral to what Somerville House is today. She was the Somerville House Old Girls' Association Inc's (OGA) longest standing President, leading our Old Girl community for over 20 years, and served on the OGA Committee from 1971 until her passing in July 2020.

Isabel achieved much in her life both within and outside of the Somerville community. She was a dignified and passionate advocate for female education, and the power of independence through choice. A strong leader and a fierce supporter of her fellow Somerville sisters, Isabel contributed to robust discussions about Somerville's past, present and future for over 50 years.

The recipient and finalists will be announced at the annual OGA Somerville House Birthday Lunch (following Commemoration Day) on Saturday 9 October, and then profiled through various OGA publications and platforms.
