Following the announcement by Mrs Arna Bennett of her intention to retire at the end of 2019, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Louise McGuire DipT BEd MEd to the position of Head of Junior School at Somerville House from 1 January, 2020.
Ms McGuire is currently Head of Junior School at St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School and prior to this was the Deputy Head of Primary at West Moreton Anglican College. She has an excellent understanding of current educational research and practice, with her experience in all girls’ environments extending through her educational leadership career of twenty years. Ms McGuire is an energetic educator with a demonstrated record of school improvement, as reflected in her advocacy for the use of data to inform pedagogy.
Ms McGuire has completed studies in a Masters in Educational Leadership, a Bachelor of Education, and a Diploma of Teaching, having developed significant management and leadership skills throughout her career. With extensive experience in primary years schooling, she brings to the role considerable expertise in school leadership, curriculum development and leading exemplary practice in teaching and learning. Throughout her wealth of experience, she has built positive relationships with all stakeholders.
I am impressed by Ms McGuire’s genuine passion for all girls’ education and her excitement about the possibilities and plans for the future of our Junior School and Somerville House as a whole. I am confident that her warm and friendly approach will enable our Junior School students to continue to flourish in our vibrant Somerville House community.
As an educational leader, Ms McGuire outlines her view that “the ethos of pastoral care and cocurriculum is equally important to me as the academic curriculum”.
I look forward to welcoming Ms McGuire to Somerville House for the start of 2020. We will look to create opportunities for you to meet her personally early in the new school year.
With every good wish.
Mrs Kim Kiepe
