Cantrice Choir perform at Commemoration Ceremony

The Somerville House Cantrice Choir captured the crowd with their performance at the national service commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Fall of Singapore in WWII.

Directed by Ms Claire Preston, the choir performed the Captives’ Hymn at the Ann Street Shrine of Remembrance at the Service held on Sunday 19 February.

The Service was televised on Channel Seven News and included many dignitaries, including the Governor of Queensland, the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC.

This was the first time that a Choir was included in the Service and symbolises the Captive Women who composed and performed the Captives Hymn in the Prisons.
