What is the size of a table at the Ball?
Each table seats ten people. If a table doesn’t have ten people allocated to it, the Ball Committee may use their discretion and seat additional people at that table. Adults are seated at different tables to Students.
I want to book a whole table, and then ask my friends. What should I do?
Pay for ten tickets, and then email the Ball Committee once you have established the names and dietary requirement.
What does a Table Captain have to do?
Appointing a Table Captain for your table allows the Ball Committee to ensure that everyone who nominates that person as their Table Captain will be seated at that table.
Can I book without a Table Captain?
Yes but please list your daughter’s year level as your table captain. This will enable you to be seated with other parents from your daughter’s year group where possible.
I’m taking a partner, but I’m not sure who yet. Should I buy a ticket?
Yes, just leave the name blank and inform the Ball Committee by email once you have decided who to take.
I have changed my mind about which partner to take. How do I change the name on a ticket?
Email the Ball Committee and let them know. At the same time, please notify them of any dietary requirements for the new partner.
My parents / guardians cannot attend the Ball with me. Who should I ask to sponsor me?
If parents or guardians of a student are unable to attend the Ball, the student needs to be sponsored by an adult attending the Ball. The sponsor will be responsible for the student during the evening. Please discuss this with your Head of Year.
How late can I leave changes to ticket names?
Please give the Ball Committee as much notice as possible. 48 hours before the Ball all ticket names are fixed.
What should I wear to the Somerville House Ball?
The Dress Code is Black Tie.
What is the alcohol service policy?
Alcohol will not be served to any student or their partner, even if they are 18 years old.
I want to pay by Direct Deposit. Is this possible?
Please email the Ball Committee on ball@somerville.qld.edu.au and they will try to assist.
What COVID protocols will be in place at the Ball?
The Ball will follow the requirements of the BCEC COVID-19 Event Operations Plan that is current at the time of the event.
What is the refund policy of the Ball?
Full refunds of the ticket prices are given up until one month before the Ball date. Thereafter refunds are at the discretion of the Ball Committee.
