The Role

The Deputy Head of Boarding provides support to the Head of Boarding to deliver a safe, secure, positive, and stimulating Christian environment for boarders. The position demands a high degree of discretion, initiative, analytical skill and sensitivity to the needs of adolescent girls. An essential component of the role includes having an understanding of compliance with policies, procedures and legal requirements. The ability to respond effectively and calmly to a range of situations is also important.

The role includes overseeing the operation of the Boarding House in the absence of the Head of Boarding.

The Deputy Head of Boarding is a residential position, requiring the incumbent to reside in a three-bedroom residence on the School Campus. Nights and week-end work are a must to ensure success in the role, as it allows the opportunity to build strong relationships with the boarders, their parents, and the Boarding House staff, as well as the opportunity to lead by example. 

Whilst previous experience in Boarding is not essential, it is vital that the successful candidate has a passion for providing exceptional pastoral and academic support to students in a Boarding environment and is willing to wholeheartedly embrace life in the Boarding House.

This is an excellent opportunity for those who wish to develop their leadership and skills in the areas of Boarding management and pastoral care. Applications are welcomed from candidates with either a teaching or non-teaching background.

The opportunity presents for a qualified and experienced teacher to start building a career in Boarding House leadership. For teaching applicants, the arrangement would include teaching a limited number of Day School classes, in conjunction with providing operational leadership within the Boarding House.

Applicants not holding a teaching qualification will have limited administrative responsibilities in the Day School, in conjunction with providing operational leadership within the Boarding House.

Working Arrangements 

Salary will be in line with either the PMSA Enterprise Agreement (Middle Leadership Framework) for QCT qualified teachers or in line with the Educational Services (School) General Staff Award 2020 for non-teachers.

This role will be offered on a three (3) year fixed-term contract commencing 16 January 2023, or starting date to be negotiated with the Principal. 

This position is a full-time term-time position working across 40 weeks of the year, which includes one (1) week prior to the academic year and one (1) week after the academic year.

A three-bedroom apartment, meals and utilities are provided as part of the total remuneration package.
