The Foundation is delighted to sponsor the annual Honour before Honours Multimedia Competition with categories for Middle Years students and Senior Years students. 

For the first time ever, Junior School students are also invited to participate in a colouring-in competition. 

This year’s theme is Building Tomorrow Together, which draws upon the School’s Masterplan and includes the development of the Senior Precinct and the A Block: Heritage Heart Restoration.

Middle Years & Senior Years Students

Your entry must address the following question:
What do you think STEAM laboratories in the Senior Precinct could look like?

This is a multimedia competition, so your entry can take any form and creativity is encouraged.

Ideas for entries include, but are not limited to: 3D models, drawings, paintings, artwork, photographs, proposals, essays, animations or videos.

Prizes
Middle Years student prize - $250 
Senior Years student prize - $250  

Restrictions
A written piece, such as a proposal or essay, should be no longer than 1200 words.
A video or animation should be no longer than two minutes.

Criteria
To produce a winning entry, you need to:

  • inspire readers/viewers/listeners with your take on Building Tomorrow Together
  • demonstrate creativity and originality to produce a compelling, engaging and thought-provoking piece
  • have a clear and engaging focus (for written/spoken entries)
  • have an aesthetic design, composition and palette (for visual entries)

The judging panel will comprise of representatives from the School, the Foundation and the Old Girls' Association.   

Entries will be displayed at the Foundation booth on Open Day, Saturday 20 March, with winning submissions published in Connections if the medium lends itself to print.  

Entries to be emailed to Petrina Gilmore at foundation@somerville.qld.edu.au before Wednesday 17 March, 4.00pm.

Please note that the due date was originally Monday 8 March. This extension does not apply to the Junior School Colouring-in competition.

Junior School Competition

This year, Junior School students are invited to participate in a colouring-in competition. The image is inspired by the STEAM laboratories which will be housed in the new Senior School Precinct.

The competition will be judged on neatness, use of colour, creativity and overall presentation.

Junior School Categories & Prizes

Each category winner will be awarded a $50 prize.

  • Year 1 & 2
  • Year 3 & 4
  • Year 5 
  • Year 6

Entries will be displayed at the Foundation booth on Open Day, Saturday 20 March, (where space allows). 

Entries can be emailed to Petrina Gilmore at foundation@somerville.qld.edu.au before 8 March, 4.00pm. Please include your (child's) full name and Year in the subject line. 

Alternatively, entries can be dropped off to Main Reception with your child's full name and Year noted in the space provided. Only entries dropped to Main Reception will be considered for the Open Day display.
