Career Development Scholarship

Donated by the Foundation and Old Girls’ Association (OGA). 

The Foundation and OGA extend this scholarship to further a 2021 graduate’s career.

The Scholarship will provide funds for a specific and approved project that will facilitate career aspirations. Funds may be used to attend a conference or to travel to a destination, for course fees, text books or training under a top sporting or music coach. The award may be used to support work experience, an internship or other professional development endeavour.


The Scholarship is a contribution towards costs associated with professional development.

Value: $10,000

Selection Committee

  • An interview panel with representatives from the Foundation, OGA, School Executive.
  • Applicants will be short listed and may be invited to attend an interview.

Applicants must submit a typed statement that addresses the following:

  • Your reason for applying, including proposed project (Max 200 words)
  • Your other interests e.g. sport, music, community service (Max 50 words)
  • Experience that has uniquely shaped your life (Max 100 words)
  • How do you think you will benefit from this experience? (Max 200 words)
  • What are your professional ambitions? (Max 100 words) 

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed immediately after school on the afternoon of Thursday 16 September.

Announcement and presentation of the Scholarship, by a representative from the Foundation or the Old Girls’ Association (OGA), will be at Speech Night on Thursday 14 October 2021.


The Award is tenable for one year and must be taken in the two year period after it is awarded. An award in 2021 is to be used 2022-2023.

Recipient's Obligation

The winner of the award will be asked to share her experience with the Somerville House community by writing an article for publication, addressing the students at Senior School Assembly and participating in the Old Girls’ Mentoring program.

The winner will be announced at 2021 Speech Night.
