We value the diverse and culturally-rich perspectives that overseas students bring to our school community. We warmly welcome these students throughout their schooling with us. Overseas students must reside within the Boarding House or with a parent or guardian.

Situated in the inner-city suburb of South Brisbane, Somerville House offers students the cultural heartland of Queensland right on their doorstep. With easy access to South Bank Parklands, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, the Queensland State Library, Museum and Art Gallery, the Botanical Gardens, and much more, our students are immersed in a vibrant and enriching environment.

English Proficiency Requirements

Overseas students are required to provide a report of their English proficiency levels prior to entry to the School. These test results detail the student’s proficiency in English and are one of the measures of the candidate’s suitability. Applicants must meet the following IELTS band scale requirements:

  • Level 4+ up to Year 5
  • Level 5 for Year 6
  • Level 5 for Years 7 to 8
  • Level 6 for Year 9
  • Level 6+ for Year 10
  • Level 7 for Years 11 or 12

Full Fee Paying Students are required by the Federal Government to take out medical cover under the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Scheme.

Complete the Application for Registration Form. All applications require a non-refundable fee of $350 per student.

You will receive an email with a link to the online Application for Enrolment Form. Additional documentation may be requested. Include a copy of the IELTS results. Completing the form does not guarantee enrolment.

After submitting the form, you and your child will be invited to an interview at the School or via TEAMS. Not all interviewed students will be offered places due to limited availability.

If offered enrolment, confirm acceptance by signing the Overseas Student Written Agreement and paying a non-refundable enrolment fee of $1,200. An invoice for the first six months’ tuition fees will also be issued.

Upon receiving the completed documentation and payment, the School will issue a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for your student visa application.
