International Students

Situated in the inner-city suburb of South Brisbane, Somerville House offers students the cultural heartland of Queensland right on their doorstep. With easy access to South Bank Parklands, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, the Queensland State Library, Museum and Art Gallery, the Botanical Gardens, and much more, our students are immersed in a vibrant and enriching environment.

We value the diverse and culturally-rich perspectives that international students bring to our school community. We warmly welcome these students throughout their schooling with us. International students must reside within the Boarding House or with a parent or guardian.

International students are required to provide a report of their English proficiency levels prior to entry to the School. These test results detail the student’s proficiency in English and are one of the measures of the candidate’s suitability. Applicants must meet the following IELTS band scale requirements:

• Level 4+ up to Year 5
• Level 5 for Year 6
• Level 5 for Years 7 to 8
• Level 6 for Year 9
• Level 6+ for Year 10
• Level 7 for Years 11 or 12

Full Fee Paying Students are required by the Federal Government to take out medical cover under the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Scheme.
