The Early Learning Centre is an initiative of Somerville House, a Pre-Prep to Year 12 School of the Presbyterian and Methodist Schools Association. The Early Learning Centre offers centre-based care for children 3 ½ to 4 ½ years of age 48 weeks of the year, and includes a five day a week school term kindergarten program.

We have an ongoing casual position for an experienced Lead Educator to be responsible for the long day care sessional program and to assist in the full-time Pre-Prep program.

This position is for Fridays each week from 11.30am to 6.00pm and is non-negotiable.  There may be opportunity for additional hours to cover scheduled leave and absence as required.

You will be a motivated and experienced Educator with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role and have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Diploma of Children’s Services (Early Childhood) or ACECQA approved equivalent;
  • A Working with Children Blue Card, including Positive Notice letter (or eligibility to apply);
  • Current Child Care First Aid Certificate with CPR, Asthma, Anaphylaxis qualifications, or willingness to acquire prior to commencement;
  • Knowledge of the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines or similar, and associated experience in play based curriculum;
  • Knowledge of the National Quality Standard and the Early Years Learning frameworks (EYLF);
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to relate to children and their families.
