The Somerville House Foundation has raised more than $17.5 million, since 1984. Gifts to the Foundation are used to build incredible facilities, support programs that otherwise would not be available and provide scholarships and bursaries for talented students in need of financial assistance.

“Investing in girls’ education is investing in the future of our society. The impact of generations of Somerville House students here in Australia and around the world over the past 125 years has been immense, yet the story is still being written. I invite you to join me to help write the next chapter – for today’s and tomorrow’s Somerville House students, and for all those who will benefit from these students’ endeavours.”

- Ms Bethwyn Todd, Somerville House Foundation Chair

How the Foundation partners with the School

As a registered charity, gifts directed to the Somerville House Foundation Building Fund; Scholarships & Bursaries Fund; and Cultural Fund, attract a tax deduction.

Donors who give more than $4,000 will be invited to apply for a Foundation Membership. Members are acknowledged at varying tiers, in line with their cumulative giving.

The Foundation partners with the School to provide exceptional learning opportunities, and to deliver programs, projects and infrastructure that have a lasting impact

Building Fund

The Building Fund supports the School’s strong commitment to delivering a relevant, first-class learning environment to facilitate exceptional learning outcomes. The Foundation is aligned with the School’s Master Plan and contributes to the development of educational facilities and capital resources.

Scholarship & Bursaries Fund

The Scholarship & Bursaries Fund plays an important role in fostering a culture that celebrates and values achievement, diversity and the pursuit of personal excellence. A number of scholarships are awarded each year to students who might not normally be able to access a Somerville House education. The Foundation plays an important role by assisting students experiencing financial hardship through the provision of bursaries.

Cultural Fund

The Cultural Fund supports the development and delivery of the School's literary, visual and performing arts, music, craft and design programs to Somerville House students and the wider community. Donations made via the Cultural Fund are tax deductible.

Gifts in Will

Consider becoming a member of the Fewings Fellowship, a Society established to honour bequestors to the School. The Somerville House Foundation Endowment Fund was established to support the School, its future operations and to provide for the future of Somerville House through economic and government downturns.
