Introduction
Softball at Somerville House is a popular Sport enjoyed by over 150 students from Years 5 -12. Softball is played across 3 seasons depending on the competition.

1.  The Andrews Cup Softball Competition is open to students in Years 5 - 7. Softball trials are held to determine squads with training to follow and begin in Term 3 to prepare students for the competition in Term 4. The competition consists of a Year 5 competition with Years 6 and 7 having teams in combined A, B and C divisions. Coaches and specialist staff work with students throughout the season to help develop physical skills, technique and team work required in a game of Softball. Selected students would be required to train two times per week during the Andrews Cup training season. Students unable to be selected in a team in the year they trial will be fielded in the development squad. The aim is to have development squads operating where availability of competition dictates numbers of participants. The training provided, allows students to continue to learn new skills and improve their skills so that they can develop for future trials or replace any student who may drop out (due to injury, illness or other commitments). Somerville House strives to enter the maximum number of teams allowable in the competition.
